SULPHATE REDUCING BACTERIA (SRB) TEST KIT

The sulphur bacteria of most importance in the water and waste water field are the sulphate reducing bacteria, like desulfovibrio. The sulphate reducing bacteria contributes greatly to tuberculations and galvanic corrosion of water mains and to taste and odour problems in water. Sulphate reducing bacteria such as desulfovibrio converts sulphate to sulphide which reacts with ferrous ions to give black colour resulting blackening of the tube.

Directions for use :

  1. Cut open the SRB liquid media pouch and pour the content in tube.
  2. Fill the tube right upto the brim (Top) with test liquid to create anaerobic condition. Now close the tube firmly.
  3. Invert the tube gently to mix the media and test liquid. Do not shake the tube vigorously.
  4. Place the tube in upright position at room temperature for incubation. Do not shake or invert the tube during incubation period.
  5. Observe the contents of the tube every 24 hrs upto 5 days to check the blackening of the content in tube.
